What is Clearform technology?

Clearview is a breakthrough in optics and aesthetics, incorporating complex lens design into the standard single vision lens category. Surfaced ClearView lenses are made with the 7-step manufacturing process called ClearForm Technology.

Don’t compromise when it comes to your vision. ZEISS ClearView Single Vision Lenses offer excellent vision clarity from the lens centre to the periphery, in a lens that is flatter, thinner, and more attractive-looking than conventional lenses.

Freeform core technology considers the location of the human eye and the rotation, which differs significantly from individuals with myopia to hyperopia. This contributes to improved clarity and the periphery of the lens.

Freeform glass moulds are used in the casting process. State-of-the-art numerical controlled glass mould generators, transfer the complex surface design to moulds which are then polished to a high optical grade

ZEISS coordinate measuring machines to check over 1500 points on each surface of every mould to ensure accuracy and precision against the freeform design. The mould is now complete

Unique front and back moulds are paired in different combinations for each prescription and stock varying lenses. The glass mould is then assembled and filled with ZEISS UVprotect or BlueGuard liquid polymers across all different refractive indices.

Depending on the material and prescription power, specific temperature profiles are followed to optimise the polymeric thermal curing. This is the next step to ensure that the optical shape is perfectly transferred from the mould to the final cast lens.

Once the curing process is complete and the lens material has cooled, the moulds are removed, and the result is a perfectly formed ClearView Lens.

This is followed by a toughened, abrasion resistance hard coat and the DuraVision antireflective coating process.

Finally, the precise lens geometry is checked and tested on the optical Ray-Path® simulation to ensure the finished ClearView lenses deliver on their promise –

On average 3 x Larger zone of excellent vision clarity* Up to 16% thinner** and 49% flatter

BlueGuard technology by ZEISS

What is BlueGuard technology?

The use of electronic devices, whether in small or large format, changes viewing habits. With ZEISS BlueGuard, a new generation of blue light blocking lenses is introduced to the market addressing today’s technology and media use. The blue light blocking properties are now incorporated into the lens material itself.

As a result, ZEISS BlueGuard Lenses provide excellent lens clarity as well as the blocking of up to 40% of the potentially harmful and irritating blue light in the wavelength between 400 and 455 nanometer (nm)1, which is known to be linked to digital eye strain.
